Shakila M. Booker is the Owner & Managing Director of SML Assisting LLC, an executive virtual assistant company that provides strategic planning, administrative support, and event management to meeting, wedding, and event professionals.  Shakila, a trailblazer in the hospitality industry, has spent two decades crafting unforgettable experiences and reshaping the landscape of hospitality. With a keen eye for detail, an unwavering passion for service, and a natural talent for creating welcoming environments, Shakila has left an indelible mark on the industry.  As a top performing sales, planning, and administrative professional with over 20 years of experience in food, beverage, contracting, logistics, and event management it was natural for Shakila to identify that wedding and event professionals be her niche market.  This is why she’s known as Your Business Nanny! 

Life changes as we go through seasons, however one thing remained true and that was Shakila’s love for events, details, and logistics.  With her oldest daughter in college and her youngest in middle school, Shakila needed to revamp her work life and make it more balanced.  This is when she decided to re-launch SML Assisting after 10 years.  SML Assisting LLC was created in 2010 after Shakila’s youngest daughter was born so that she could have more flexibility in her schedule.  10 years later Shakila’s aim was the same, flexibility.  Instead of marketing her business as just administrative support, as it was at inception, Shakila has incorporated the 20 years of knowledge and training she received in the workforce.  Shakila desires that all small business owners be able to reclaim their time by experiencing true work/life balance.

The number one thing Shakila loves about being a virtual assistant is that it allows her to do what she does best while still offering the flexibility needed in her personal life.  Shakila is able to assist her clients without taking away from the time she spends with her family.

Event Professionals are Shakila’s niche because it’s the industry she loves and the work that comes naturally, so her value is heightened for clients in the events world due to her experience.  However, Shakila has supported business owners across many industries such as bakers, personal trainers, nurses, designers, and influencers.
